Wine time!
Niagara, Ontario, Canada is famous for its scenic beauty (not just ‘The Falls’, folks), historic architecture, and award-winning vintages renowned the world over. Mile after mile of carefully-tended grape vines, plump with the luscious fruit that oenophiles fantasize over. We weren’t immune…
Here are five incredible stops along the wine route that drew us in and satisfied beyond measure:

Vineyards of the Niagara Escarpment
Vineland Estates
Ice wine, sooooo sweet.
Loved the restaurant. Food very well prepared & beautifully presented.
Cheese plate, excellent. Pork belly, the best. Perfect portion sizes with lovely wine pairings. Browsed boutique store while tasting wines. Temptations: hand-crafted pottery, gourmet chocolates… *Always a fan of Vineland’s Merlots and Cabs – very rich, full body.
Malivoire Wine
Gorgeous location, built into the edge of the rocky escarpment, overlooking row upon row of grapevines. Reminiscent of Tuscany, but in Canada. The Gamay is a definite fave – fruity aroma, hints of pepper & spice; loved the ice wines.
Redstone Winery
Really enjoyed lunch here. Dining room overlooks the vineyards… extremely romantic and picturesque. Ordered the cheese plate – looked and tasted fantastic. Flat bread was amazing. Excellent selection of Vintages for pairing.
Vineyards in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Stratus Vineyards
Beautiful, scenic setting. But the wines stole the show. Love the richness of the Stratus Red. The Stratus White may be the nicest White Blend I’ve ever tasted.
Megalomaniac Winery
Location, location, location. *sigh* High on a hilltop overlooking Lake Ontario and the vineyards. The views from Megalomaniac are outstanding. So are the wines! Ice wines, top of the list…
